Introducing our new Business Navigator in Central

We are delighted to introduce our new Business Navigator serving the Central Otago area – Emily Miazga.

Emily is originally from Saskatchewan, Canada and first came to New Zealand to compete in multisport events. She quickly became hooked on the Coast to Coast – particularly its gruelling Longest Day event, where competitors complete the 243-kilometre course in a single day. She competed in eight of these events, winning three times.

Her elite multisport career and her Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition/Food Management led her into business when she created Em’s Power Cookies, which she later sold to Cookie Time.

“To achieve success in both business and sport, I was fortunate to have a network of amazing people who supported, empowered and inspired me,” she says. “They gave me their time, experience and insights, and most of all believed in me. Now it is my turn to give back and help others.”

A former Buller District Councillor, Emily now lives in Hawea and enjoys tramping adventures in the mountains, running, cycling, telemark skiing, rock climbing, yoga, and gardening.

She says she feels privileged to have the role of Business Navigator.

“I’m excited to be part of the fantastic Business South team and my aim is to see businesses in Central Otago achieve success,” she says.
