Please join us for an online Q&A session hosted by Mike Collins, Chief Executive (Business South), with Kirk Hope – Chief Executive, BusinessNZ.
In this session you will learn more about the Government’s proposed NZ Income Insurance Scheme and what this might mean for your business.
Date: Thursday, 31 March
Time: 2.00pm to 3.00pm
The proposed scheme would support workers with 80% of their income for up to seven months if they lose their job through no fault of their own. There are attractive elements to the scheme such as retraining, better skills matching, and preventing a significant event decimating a region. Some view there has been scope creep in the proposal and there are elements some businesses would not support.
Questions that have arisen include:
- Many businesses have successful redundancy arrangements that they are and their employees are happy with – should they be exempt from the scheme?
- Is the timing of introducing such a proposal right?
You can find out more about the scheme here.
Business South is making a submission to Government on behalf of our members, and would like your feedback on the proposed scheme. A survey will be sent to you after the Q&A session if you would prefer this method of providing your input.
