Developments driving the demand
The $1.47 billion new Dunedin Hospital build is currently New Zealand’s largest infrastructure project. It will create around 300 new jobs in construction in Dunedin, from labourers to site leaders.
In the eight years it will take to complete the build, more than 4,000 construction workers will be required, with up to 900 workers on-site during peak activity.
This and other significant Dunedin construction projects are expected to generate high demand for construction workers into the mid-2030s and beyond.
Workforce Central Dunedin was established to meet these demands.
