Guide for applications & Q&As

The Tourism Kick-start Fund is the third initiative of the Tourism Communities: Support, Recovery and Re-set Plan.

Applications for the Kick-start Fund are now open. Please see below for a Tourism Kick-start Fund Guide and Q&A’s to support you to apply. Please read carefully.

The Tourism Kick-start Fund is linked to the border re-opening, so the accelerated move to re-opening our border and removal of self-isolation for vaccinated travellers means it is timely to now open the fund. Alongside the Business Advisory Support initiative and Advice Implementation Grant, the Government is making wider support available through the Tourism Kick-start Fund ($49 million) to help tourism businesses in the five South Island communities prepare for the return of international visitors.

The guide covers important information including:

  • Introduction to the Fund
  • Eligibility criteria (all must be met)
  • Information (including what the funds can and can’t be spent on.

For Queenstown Lakes District businesses who believe they may be eligible and who are yet to register with Regional Business Partners, please register here. A Growth Advisor will be in contact with you to pre-assess your eligibility. If likely eligible you will receive an application form by email from your RBP Growth Advisor.

Once complete, applications will be submitted to an independent accounting firm (the decision-maker) who will, using your application and supporting documentation determine your eligibility against the criteria.

Please allow 10 days for your application to be reviewed and another 10 days to receive payment. If applications are incomplete the processing and payment period above will restart when the complete and correct application is re-submitted.

We ask for patience as Growth Advisors and those processing applications are likely to be impacted by COVID-19, just like all organisations. Having advisors unwell and/or having to isolate will impact on our ability to respond.
